Morocco’s national football team coach, Walid Regragui, is reportedly planning to shake up his technical staff.
Currently, Regragui works with Rachid Benmahmoud, French coach Abdelaziz Bouhazama, and Omar El Harrak, who joined from Spain.
However, sources suggest that Regragui remains unconvinced by the current assistant coaching setup.
This isn’t the first time the Atlas Lions’ coach has made changes behind the scenes. Following a disappointing campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, he unexpectedly parted ways with assistant coach Gharib Amzine under unclear circumstances.
The team is likely to welcome a new Moroccan coach soon, with Tariq Sektioui, who famously guided the Olympic team to a historic bronze medal in Paris, tipped as the leading candidate.
Additionally, the Moroccan Football Association recently approved Regragui’s request to bring in a French specialist focusing on free kicks and set pieces.
This move has already paid dividends, as Morocco scored five of their last nine goals from corners and free kicks.
These adjustments are part of Morocco’s broader strategy to strengthen its technical team ahead of hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations this December.
