Walid Regragui remains in charge as Morocco head coach – FRMF
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has once again dismissed reports suggesting a new head coach has been named for the Morocco national team, confirming that Walid Regragui will continue to lead the Atlas Lions.
In an official statement, the federation rejected the rumors and stressed that any decisions regarding the national team’s coaching staff will be announced through formal channels: “The Royal Moroccan Football Federation denies the circulating news regarding the appointment of a new coach for the national team and affirms that it will inform the public—just as it has done previously—of all developments related to the national team at the appropriate time.”
The clarification comes shortly after reports claimed Mohamed Ouahbi had been appointed as Morocco’s new coach.
This marks the third time in recent weeks that the FRMF has refuted claims of a coaching change, following previous statements on February 6 and February 24 denying Regragui’s supposed departure.
Ouahbi’s name entered the conversation due to his remarkable 2025 campaign with Morocco’s U20 team, where he guided the squad to its first-ever World Cup title, including victories over Brazil, Spain, France, and a 2–0 win against Argentina in the final.
Despite the renewed speculation, the federation’s statement reinforces that no coaching change has occurred, maintaining support for Regragui as the team prepares for upcoming international fixtures, including two friendlies scheduled in March.
The FRMF remains clear that any official appointment will be communicated solely through its formal announcements.
