The Moroccan national football team delivered a resounding 6-0 victory against Congo Brazzaville at the Grand Stade d’Agadir on Tuesday. This win, part of the 4th day of Group E in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, marked Morocco’s third consecutive victory in the campaign. Head coach Walid Regragui praised his team’s performance and emphasized the significance of maintaining their position at the top of the group.
Addressing the press conference following the match, Regragui expressed satisfaction with his players’ intensity and resilience.
“This new success gives us the advantage of having a better goal difference compared to other group teams,” he noted.
Regragui highlighted the team’s ability to perform despite the fatigue and the accumulation of matches throughout the season with their respective clubs.
With 9 points from three victories, Morocco remains the leader in Group E. Regragui emphasized that this strong position allows the national team to approach upcoming qualifying matches with increased confidence.
He also commended the cohesion and harmony within the squad, which he considers crucial for maintaining balance and achieving future success.
“The match against Congo Brazzaville showed the cohesion of the group and the harmony between all the players who gave the best of themselves,” Regragui stated.
He underscored his priority of creating balance within the team, ensuring that every player can contribute effectively.
On the other side, Congo Brazzaville’s coach Isaac Ngata acknowledged the formidable challenge posed by the Moroccan team.
He praised Morocco’s organization and tactical prowess, noting, “The Moroccan selection is very well organized in all aspects of the game.”
Ngata admitted that his players struggled to contain Morocco’s relentless offensive pressure, which began with an early goal in the 8th minute and continued with rapid attacks that tested the Congolese defense.
Following this match, Morocco sits atop Group E with 9 points, ahead of Tanzania with 6 points, while Niger and Zambia each have 3 points.
Congo Brazzaville remains at the bottom with no points. As the qualifiers progress, Morocco aims to build on this momentum, eyeing their spot in the 2026 World Cup with renewed confidence and determination.
