Walid Regragui, the coach of Morocco, will unveil the final list consisting of 27 players to participate in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The competition to be hosted by Ivory Coast takes place from January 13 to February 14.
After announcing the list of the “Atlas Lions,” Al-Rakraki will hold a press conference to shed light on his training program in preparation for the African Championship and some of his tactical choices.
This comes especially after the decision to exclude key figures who played a prominent role in the 2020 World Cup, where Morocco reached the semi-finals as the first Arab and African team to achieve this unprecedented accomplishment.
According to information obtained by “Al-Araby Al-Jadeed” on Wednesday, the coach has prepared a plan for the preparation of the Africa Cup of Nations for about a month.
The plan focuses on a meticulous follow-up of the competitors of the Moroccan national team in Group 6, which includes the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania.
These details indicate that the coaching staff of the Moroccan national team, consisting of coach Waleed Al-Rakraki and his assistants Rashid Ben Mahmoud and Ghraib Amzine, and Moussa Al-Habshi, the match analyst via “video,” has started rewatching several matches of the competitors of the “Atlas Lions.”
The aim is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each team individually and also assess the performance of players who belong to the competing teams and evaluate their technical value within the clubs they play for.
In this context, a source from the coaching staff of the Moroccan national team revealed on Wednesday that the process of tracking competitors will continue during the training camp at the Mohammed VI Football Center.
This will include a review of matches involving the Tanzanian national team, including those against the “Atlas Lions” in Dar es Salaam, in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
This will be the first test for Roman Saiss and his teammates in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
It is worth mentioning that the “Atlas Lions” will suffice with a closed training camp at the Mohammed VI Center in Rabat, starting from January 3 until the 9th.
Afterward, the Moroccan national team will travel to San Pedro, Ivory Coast, via a private plane, to participate in the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations.
