The Nigeria U17 female side brushed aside the Niger U17 female team with a resounding 9-0 victory on Thursday night.
The two youth national teams locked horns in their first match in Group B at the 2024 WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup.
The tournament is being held in Ghana at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
In a game many thought will be closely contested, Nigeria’s Flamingoes proved too strong for Niger and put the opponent to the sword.
Captain for the Flamingoes, Shakirat Abidemi starred with an impressive performance as Nigeria secured a 9-0 victory at the end of a demolishing exercise.
At the end of the game, Shakirat Abidemi was adjudged Most Valuable Player.
The game between Nigeria and Niger was played after host nation Ghana engaged Benin in the opening match of the tournament.
The Black Maidens of Ghana dominated the game, especially in the first half and cruised to a 4-1 victory at the end of the contest.
