The President of West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B, Kurt Okraku, has officially inaugurated the Union’s new headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The much-anticipated inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday, April 22.
The inauguration ceremony marked a significant milestone in the Union’s efforts to strengthen its presence and operations in the region.
Top Ivorian government officials and other distinguished guests, whose support and collaboration were vital to bringing the project to life, were present for the inauguration.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Kurt Okraku described Abidjan as a fitting location for WAFU B’s new regional hub, stressing the city’s deep-rooted football culture and passion for the sport.
He noted that he is confident the new headquarters would serve as a platform to foster stronger collaboration, improve administrative efficiency, and drive impactful programs designed to empower young talents and stakeholders across all Zone B nations.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Côte d’Ivoire and the Ivorian Football Federation for their unwavering support, and to all who contributed to this project,” Kurt Okraku said during the inauguration.
He added, “Let this new headquarters be a place where ideas flourish, partnerships are forged, and dreams are realised.”
