Egyptian club Wadi Degla have announced the signing of Croatian midfielder Danijel Miskic on a free transfer, in a move aimed at boosting the team’s quality in the second half of the Egyptian Premier League season.
The deal runs until the summer of 2027, giving the 32-year-old the chance to establish himself as a key figure in the club’s long-term project.
Miskic signed his contract on Wednesday in the presence of Wadi Degla officials before immediately joining the team’s training sessions to prepare for upcoming matches. The player brings solid European experience, having previously shared a youth-team dressing room with star midfielder Mateo Kovacic for Croatia’s under-20 national side.
The Croatian began his career at Dinamo Zagreb, one of the country’s biggest clubs and a renowned talent factory. He later moved to NK Lokomotiva Zagreb, before heading to Slovenia where he represented several teams, most notably NK Olimpija Ljubljana, and then continued his journey with Russian side Ural.
Miskic is Wadi Degla’s first signing of the current winter transfer window, highlighting the club’s targeted approach to strengthening the squad rather than making wholesale changes. So far, the management has not decided to release any players, choosing instead to maintain stability around head coach Mohamed El Sheikh.
Under El Sheikh, Wadi Degla sit sixth in the Egyptian Premier League table with 20 points and have also reached the quarter-finals of the Egypt Capital Cup.
The team is now preparing for its next league fixture against Ghazl El Mahalla, where Miskic could soon have the opportunity to make his debut and begin contributing to the club’s ambitions this season.
