Vozinha’s Morocco switch gathers pace after unexpected Colo-Colo U-turn

Vozinha is now close to joining RS Berkane after making a late decision to abandon his expected move to Colo-Colo.

The 40-year-old Cape Verde goalkeeper had appeared certain to continue his career in Chile after becoming one of the standout figures of the 2026 World Cup with the Blue Sharks. However, negotiations have changed direction and the veteran is now waiting for an official offer from the Moroccan club before making a final decision.

The move to Colo-Colo had seemed almost complete. The Chilean side had already announced Vozinha’s arrival on social media and publicly welcomed him to the club, giving the impression that only the formalities remained before he travelled to Santiago.

But the goalkeeper postponed his departure on three separate occasions. Those delays initially appeared to be minor complications in completing the transfer, although they increasingly raised questions about whether the agreement would ultimately be completed.

What had looked like a straightforward delay has now developed into a significant change of plan.

According to information from GloboEsporte, RS Berkane have accelerated discussions in recent days and are preparing an official proposal for Vozinha. The Moroccan club are reported to have first reached an agreement with Bubista, the Cape Verde manager during the 2026 World Cup, before moving towards an offer for the goalkeeper.

Vozinha is now waiting for that proposal before giving his definitive approval. Unless there is another late twist, his next club is expected to be RS Berkane, with the transfer likely to take him to Morocco rather than Chile.

The development has come as a surprise to Colo-Colo, who believed they had secured the signing of an experienced goalkeeper whose profile had risen significantly during the World Cup. Their public announcement had suggested the deal was effectively settled, but the player’s repeated delays in travelling to Santiago left the situation unresolved.

RS Berkane now appear to be in the stronger position. By pushing forward with negotiations at this stage, the Moroccan club could complete one of the more notable deals of the transfer market and secure a goalkeeper who was among the most prominent names at the latest World Cup.

For Colo-Colo, the expected arrival of Vozinha has instead turned into an uncertain and ultimately disappointing transfer episode. For RS Berkane, the same uncertainty has created an opportunity to bring the Cape Verde international to Morocco.

The final agreement still depends on Vozinha receiving and accepting the proposed offer, but the direction of the story has changed decisively. After being publicly welcomed by Colo-Colo, the goalkeeper is now on course to continue his career with RS Berkane.
