Vozinha: Miami linked with move for free-agent Cape Verde goalkeeper
Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, currently a free agent after leaving Portuguese side GD Chaves, is being linked with an MLS switch to Miami.
The 40-year-old, whose contract with Chaves expired on 1 July 2026, is listed as Without Club and is understood to be under consideration by the Florida outfit as they assess experienced options in goal. Transfermarkt records his current market value at 50,000 (42,000), with the probability of a move currently marked as unclear (?).
Vozinha, born in Mindelo on 3 June 1986 and standing at 1.89m, has spent the past decade moving across Europe and beyond. After starting out in Cape Verde with Batuque FC and CS Mindelense, he moved to Angolas Progresso do Sambizanga in 2012 before spells in Moldova with Zimbru Chisinau, Portugal with Gil Vicente and Chaves, Cyprus with AEL Limassol and Slovakia with AS Trencin.
His peak market valuation came during his time at AEL Limassol, where he reached an estimated 600,000 in 2018 and remained a regular in the Cypriot top flight. Subsequent moves to Trencin in 2022 and Chaves in 2024 saw his valuation gradually decline with age, stabilising at 50,000 during his final season in Portugal and into free agency in June 2026.
Most recently, the right-footed goalkeeper featured for Chaves in the Portuguese league during the 2025-26 campaign, with his last competitive appearances coming shortly before his deal expired this summer. No fee would be required for any club, including Miami, to complete a transfer.
If the MLS side decide to act on their reported interest, a move to Miami would extend a career that has already taken Vozinha through six countries and could add a late American chapter to his long professional journey.
