Volos bring in Cameroon-France midfielder Yvan Neyou from Getafe

Volos have signed Cameroon-France midfielder Yvan Neyou from Getafe on loan, giving the Greek Super League 1 club a new defensive midfield option for the 2026-27 season.

The move was completed on 2 September, with Neyou joining the Greek side from the Spanish club. The 29-year-old’s loan is scheduled to run until 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to Getafe.

Neyou arrives at Volos after spending the second half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Saudi Arabian club Al-Okhdood. That spell ended on 30 June, after which he returned to Getafe.

The midfielder joined Getafe on a free transfer from CD Leganes in July 2025. Before moving to the Madrid-based club, Neyou spent two seasons with Leganes, helping them win the Spanish second-tier title and secure promotion to the top flight in 2023-24.

His time at Leganes followed a return to former club Saint-Etienne on loan during the 2022-23 season. Neyou initially moved to France from Braga B in January 2021 for a fee of €1m, having first joined Saint-Etienne on loan in 2020.

Born in Douala, Neyou holds Cameroonian and French nationality. He began his senior career in France with CS Sedan before moving to Stade Lavallois and later Portugal with Braga B.

A right-footed defensive midfielder, Neyou has also featured in La Liga and UEFA Conference League qualifying during his career. His arrival adds experience across French, Spanish, Portuguese and Saudi Arabian football to the Volos squad.

The transfer represents Neyou’s latest move in a career that has included promotion success with Leganes, two spells at Saint-Etienne and loan periods with both Leganes and Al-Okhdood.

Neyou’s temporary move to Volos is complete, with the midfielder contracted to remain in Greece until the end of June 2027.
