Brazilian forward of Cameroonian descent, Vinicius Jr has reacted to his goal for the national team against Columbia on Thursday night.
The Real Madrid attacker equalised in added time to secure a 2-1 win for his country in a close contest against Columbia in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Vinicius Jr said the goal meant a lot to him.
“We deserved the win. This goal was very important for me. I earned it through hard work. I felt a bit of relief,” the Real Madrid star said.
He continued, “I’m extremely grateful to the Brazil national team for everything they’ve done for me, as well as to my teammates for their support and daily efforts. I’m very happy and want the fans to feel the same.”
The win has propelled Brazil to second in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, behind world champions Argentina.
