Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has advised Arsenal to prioritize signing Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, over Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, as the Gunners seek to bolster their attacking options.
Speaking on The Dressing Room Podcast, Cole highlighted Osimhen’s impressive form in Turkey, suggesting he would be a better fit for Arsenal’s tactical setup.
Osimhen has netted 21 goals and provided four assists in 24 Turkish Süper Lig appearances this season.
In contrast, Isak has also showcased remarkable performance in the Premier League, scoring 20 goals and assisting five times in 27 matches.
Cole questioned the feasibility of Arsenal acquiring Isak, considering Newcastle’s financial capabilities and potential reluctance to sell. He emphasized Osimhen’s suitability for Arsenal, stating, “He looks perfect for Arsenal for me.”
“Osimhen, I know he’s had this little strange one where he’s gone to Turkey and he’s banging in goals,” said Cole.
“Isak yeah, but why would he go to Arsenal now? If Newcastle could spend more, I can’t see Isak being an option, Osimhen is the one for me for Arsenal.”
Arsenal’s pursuit of a new striker comes amid concerns over the current options, with Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz not fully meeting the team’s requirements.
Osimhen’s proven goal-scoring ability and physical presence make him a compelling candidate to lead Arsenal’s frontline.
While Osimhen’s loan spell at Galatasaray has been fruitful, his future remains uncertain, with interest from several top European clubs.
