Victor Osimhen, the prolific Nigerian international striker, clinched the esteemed title of African Player of the Year 2023. Following this crowning achievement, Osimhen addressed the media in a press conference, shedding light on Nigeria’s aspirations for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Ivory Coast.

Confidence radiated from the Naples player as he shared insights into Nigeria’s preparedness for the impending AFCON.

The 24-year-old, recognized as a pivotal force within the team, implored his fellow teammates to exhibit unwavering focus throughout the entirety of the tournament, emphasizing the significance of maximum concentration.

“We have great talents in the Nigeria national team. I think we will perform well in the competition (AFCON 2023), and our goal is to win the title.

All the African teams have become stronger, so we have to give 200% of our level to achieve this.

We must move forward on the right path, whatever the difficulties of the circumstances,” expressed Osimhen during the press conference at the CAF Awards in Marrakech.

As a poignant reminder of Nigeria’s storied history in the African Cup of Nations, boasting victories in 1980, 1994, and 2013, Osimhen articulated the collective ambition to secure a fourth trophy in 2024.

The national team, fueled by Osimhen’s resolute commitment to excellence, aims to navigate the challenges of AFCON 2023, driven by the pursuit of victory and the desire to etch their names in the annals of African football history.
