Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface may miss Sunday’s Bundesliga fixture against SC Freiburg after experiencing muscle discomfort in training.
Head coach Xabi Alonso revealed on Friday that the forward complained of an issue in his thigh after Thursday’s session and was held out of training on Friday as a precaution.
“Yesterday after training, he felt something in his thigh muscles,” Xabi Alonso explained, highlighting the uncertainty around the 24-year-old’s availability. The coaching staff will monitor his condition on Saturday before making a final decision.
Victor Boniface has been a key figure in Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga campaign, netting eight goals and providing one assist in 19 league appearances this season. His possible absence could open the door for Patrik Schick to lead the line once again.
Bayer Leverkusen is second on the league table with 67 points after 31 games.
Fans will be watching closely for updates as Bayer Leverkusen prepares for the weekend showdown.
