Moroccan goalkeeper Munir El Kajoui is on the brink of a move to Wydad Casablanca, one of the country’s footballing powerhouses.
The 35-year-old, who joined RS Berkane in the summer of 2024, appears set to temporarily switch to Wydad.
Reports suggest negotiations are at an advanced stage, with an agreement nearly finalized. Sources indicate that El Kajoui is 90% certain to join the Casablanca-based club on loan, specifically for the 2024 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Following the tournament, El Kajoui is expected to return to RS Berkane, where he remains under contract until June 2026. Despite the temporary nature of the deal, his move is seen as a strategic boost for Wydad as they prepare for the global stage.
El Kajoui has been instrumental in RS Berkane’s stellar domestic campaign this season. His outstanding performances between the posts have helped the team secure a commanding lead in the Moroccan championship, with a nine-point cushion after 16 matches.
The veteran goalkeeper has kept 14 clean sheets in 21 appearances, underscoring his value to the squad.
For Wydad Casablanca, El Kajoui’s arrival brings both experience and reliability, qualities essential for success in the highly competitive Club World Cup.
