Van Persie determined to keep Hadj Moussa as Feyenoord targets Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane

Feyenoord boss Robin van Persie has made it clear that Algerian winger Anis Hadj Moussa will not be leaving the club this summer, even as Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane emerges as a top target to reinforce the Dutch side’s attack.

Hadj Moussa has been the subject of serious interest from Portuguese giants Benfica, particularly in the wake of Bruma’s long-term injury.

The Lisbon club has already seen two bids turned down, the latest reportedly worth €18 million including bonuses.

Despite the persistent interest and the player’s apparent desire to join Benfica, Van Persie insists the 22-year-old will remain in Rotterdam.

“It’s not the right time for Hadj Moussa to leave the club,” said Van Persie in a firm message to reporters.

“I understand that many clubs are interested in him, but we want to keep our best players. In principle, he’s staying.

He has a contract until 2029. For us, it’s very clear: he will play here next season.”

The former Manchester United striker, now in his first managerial role with Feyenoord, appears intent on retaining the core of his squad while also strengthening key areas.

One of those reinforcements could come in the form of Hamza Igamane, a rising Moroccan star currently playing for Rangers in Scotland.

Igamane, 22, has enjoyed a breakout campaign, scoring 16 goals last season and earning a recent call-up to the Moroccan national team.

He also made headlines by netting the winning goal in the fiercely contested Old Firm derby, further boosting his stock.

Initially linked with a move to French side Lille earlier in the summer, Igamane has since stayed with Rangers, featuring in their Champions League qualifying matches.

However, reports from both Dutch and Scottish media suggest that Feyenoord are ready to launch an ambitious bid to bring him to De Kuip.

The Eredivisie club is believed to be prepared to offer between €15 and €20 million for the former AS FAR forward, a fee that would shatter their current transfer record.

Given that Rangers signed Igamane for just €1.7 million in early 2024, the potential deal represents a significant profit for the Scottish side.

Still, the transfer is not without its complications. Igamane recently suffered a knock, as confirmed by Rangers manager Russell Martin.

While the injury is not thought to be serious, it may delay negotiations or prompt Feyenoord to assess the situation further before making a formal offer.

Should the deal go through, it would pave the way for a North African duo in Van Persie’s forward line, with Hadj Moussa and Igamane possibly linking up for the first time.

For now, though, Feyenoord’s stance is clear: Hadj Moussa is staying, and the club is ready to invest heavily to secure new attacking talent.

As the transfer window continues to unfold, all eyes remain on whether Feyenoord can fend off Benfica’s advances and simultaneously convince Rangers to part ways with their rising Moroccan star.

Hamza Igamane has had a crazy week with Glasgow Rangers, with Europa League qualification, a first call-up to the Morocco national team, and a winning goal in the Old Firm
