Valencia make surprise move for Liverpool outcast Harvey Elliott

Valencia are pursuing a loan deal for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott, with negotiations already under way between the Spanish club, the player and Liverpool.

Elliott, who has fallen out of favour with Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola, has reportedly told his coach that he wants to leave Anfield and move to Valencia. There is optimism among all parties that an agreement can be reached soon.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder is understood to be open to a fresh challenge in La Liga and enthusiastic about wearing the Valencia shirt. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Valencia head coach Carlos Corberan has personally contacted Elliott as the club seeks to strengthen its attacking options.

Unai Emery, who was Aston Villa manager at the time, acknowledged that the restricted number of matches had affected the player before Elliott returned to Liverpool this summer.

The England international originally joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2019 and has made 149 appearances for the club. He was an important member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad during the manager’s final season, featuring in 53 matches.

However, Elliott’s position at Liverpool has changed since then. He was not part of the plans of former manager Arne Slot and has also failed to convince current boss Iraola.
