The highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 intensifies, football pundits and former coaches are offering their insights into the potential winners of the prestigious tournament. Among those weighing in on the discussion is Vahid Halilhodzic, the former coach of Algeria from 2011 to 2014.

In an exclusive interview with “Winwin,” Halilhodzic expressed his belief that Algeria possesses the capabilities to once again lift the coveted trophy.

The impending AFCON 2023, set to unfold in Ivory Coast in a matter of days, has captivated football enthusiasts across the continent.

With anticipation building, experts are scrutinizing the field of contenders and assessing the competition’s level.

Vahid Halilhodzic, drawing from his extensive experience and knowledge of African football, confidently asserted that the Algerian national team stands among the formidable contenders for the ultimate title.

Speaking to “Winwin,” Halilhodzic stated, “There are many teams that have the ambition and the potential to win the Africa Cup of Nations, and among these teams, there is the Algerian national team.”

Halilhodzic’s familiarity with African football extends beyond his tenure with Algeria.

While he did not secure an AFCON victory during his coaching stint with the Algerian national team, he notably led the Ivory Coast from 2008 to 2010.

Furthermore, from 2019 to 2022, he steered the Atlas Lions of Morocco, solidifying his profound understanding of the intricacies and challenges inherent in coaching top-tier African teams.

As the AFCON 2023 unfolds, Halilhodzic’s endorsement of Algeria as strong contenders adds an intriguing layer to the tournament narrative.

With the competition set to showcase the best of African football, Algeria’s journey, under the guidance of their current coach, promises to be a focal point in the pursuit of continental glory.
