Former Paris Saint-Germain coach and current Algeria coach, Vahid Halilhodžić, closely follows the performances of the French capital club. After watching the highly anticipated match of the 24th day of Ligue 1 between Monaco and PSG (1-1) on Sunday evening, the Bosnian coach shared his thoughts with L’Equipe, and his comments were rather critical towards the Parisian team, bordering on accusation.
“Ibra seemed a little tired to me, and despite his ability to score at any time, we saw him struggle with his chance at the end. But he’s not a machine,” he observed before shifting his focus to Marco Verratti. “We need to remind Verratti that he can’t afford to lose balls like that in front of his own area.”
Halilhodžić continued, “And then, as we saw in Nantes (2-1, League Cup semi-final), there was perhaps some complacency from Thiago Silva towards Rivière… The Parisians seem to have adopted a bit of the Italian style vice. A bit of strolling, a bit of theatrics in their duels…”
PSG may not take kindly to these remarks.
