Davy Gui’s rapid emergence at Dijon has placed him firmly in the sights of Dutch side FC Utrecht, who are pushing to sign the 18-year-old midfielder during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Ivorian teenager, who has drawn widespread attention in France’s Championnat National, has been a standout performer for Dijon since stepping up to the first team in January.
Utrecht are among a number of clubs that have shown concrete interest in securing his signature, reportedly tabling an initial offer of €200,000 to tempt Dijon into a deal.
Gui’s rise has been swift. After signing a six-month deal with the first team at the start of the year, the young attacking midfielder made 12 appearances in 18 league matches, a reflection of the trust placed in him by the coaching staff and the potential he has begun to fulfill.
His ability to influence games with maturity beyond his years has not gone unnoticed.
Having joined Dijon’s reserve side in September 2024 after progressing through the ranks at Ivorian club ASI Abengourou, Gui adapted quickly to the demands of French football.
He featured in 13 matches at the reserve level, notching a goal and an assist before earning promotion to the senior squad.
Dijon, however, are reluctant to lose their emerging talent.
The French club are believed to be considering triggering a one-year extension clause built into Gui’s current deal, in a bid to retain him for the 2025–26 campaign.
Talks are said to be ongoing between all parties, with both Dijon and the player’s representatives working towards a resolution.
While Utrecht appear to be leading the chase at this stage, reports says that other unnamed clubs in Europe have also made inquiries about Gui’s availability.
His current market valuation stands at €150,000, but that figure could rise significantly if competition for his services intensifies over the summer.
Gui’s rise comes at a time when European clubs are increasingly turning to West African nations for young, technically gifted prospects.
His early exposure to professional football and growing interest from abroad signal a promising future for a player tipped to become one of Ivory Coast’s next breakout stars.
