Following the match between USM Khenchela and USM Alger on Friday, the administration of USM Khenchela issued a statement addressing the allegations made by their counterparts.
In an official statement, the capital club expressed their dismay and deep regret over “the cowardly attacks suffered by our loyal fans who traveled to support the team in its match in Khenchela against the local union.”
USM Khenchela’s administration asserted that they were surprised by the statement issued by USM Alger, emphasizing that it contradicted all the facts and instead supported the actions of their own supporters.
Furthermore, the administration highlighted, “Such statements that endorse and support destructive actions unrelated to cheering, supporting teams, and sportsmanship and camaraderie among fellow citizens raise doubts about the professionalism of USM Alger’s management.”
They added that the purpose of USM Alger’s statement was to obscure the truth: “After the final whistle, everyone was protecting the players and the management of USM Alger, as their fans attempted to enter the dressing rooms and attack them were it not for the vigilance of the security forces.”
In contrast, the administration of USM Khenchela called on their fans and all supporters of other teams to reject violence and promote love and mutual respect.
They also wished a speedy recovery to the injured fans of both teams and the national security personnel affected by this incident.
