Sudden move: Tunisian club US Monastir part ways with Tarek Jarraya
US Monastir have dismissed head coach Tarek Jarraya after less than five months in charge, the Tunisian club confirmed on Sunday.
The decision was announced on 8 March in a statement published on the club’s official social media channels, bringing an early end to Jarraya’s tenure that began in October 2025.
The club confirmed that it had terminated the coach’s contract and expressed gratitude for his work during his short spell with the team.
“The board of directors of Union Sportive Monastirienne announces the termination of its contract with coach Tarek Jarraya. The club extends its sincere thanks to the coach and all members of the technical staff for their efforts over the past period and wishes them success and good luck in their sporting careers,” the statement said.
Short tenure ends after mixed results
Jarraya leaves the club after overseeing 14 matches during his time in charge.
Under his leadership, the team recorded five victories, five draws and four defeats.
However, a run of inconsistent performances appears to have influenced the decision taken by the club’s management.
The most recent setback came on Saturday when US Monastir suffered a 1–0 home defeat against CS Sfaxien.
The result proved decisive in accelerating the club’s decision to part ways with the coach.
Prior to that match, the team had already struggled to maintain momentum.
A goalless draw away to CA Bizertin highlighted the difficulties the side had faced in securing consistent results.
Across their last four matches, US Monastir managed only one win, alongside two defeats and one draw.
The sequence further intensified pressure on the coaching staff as the season progressed.
Gap at the top of the table
US Monastir currently sit fifth in the league standings, a position that leaves them significantly behind the leaders.
The team trails Espérance Sportive de Tunis by 16 points, a gap that the club’s leadership appears to have considered too large as the campaign continues.
With the club aiming to remain competitive at the top of the Tunisian league, officials ultimately decided to make a change on the bench.
Jarraya’s departure therefore marks another managerial shift for US Monastir as the club looks to regain consistency and improve its position in the standings.
