France attacker of Malian descent, Ousmane Dembele, starred with a brace for PSG in their 4-2 comeback victory against L’Union Sportive de Littoral de Dunkerque on Tuesday night.
The two clubs locked horns in a crucial semi-final tie to fight for a place in the Coupe de France final.
Despite facing strong opposition, Dunkerque entered the fixture with confidence, having already eliminated Lille and Stade Brestois.
PSG dominated early possession but lacked urgency. Dunkerque capitalized, earning a free kick that led to Vincent Sasso’s opener after a flick from former PSG academy player Alec Georgen. Shocked by the goal, PSG pressed forward, forcing Dunkerque deep. However, Muhannad Al Saad exploited defensive hesitation to double the lead.
PSG responded before halftime as Ousmane Dembélé weaved through the box to fire home. After the break, he assisted Marquinhos from a corner to level the score.
Desire Doue later equalised in the 62nd minute to give PSG the lead for the first time in the semi-final before Dembele completed his brace with a fine strike in injury time to seal the 4-2 win.
After firing PSG into the French Cup final, the Frenchman continues to make a case for the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.
