Thierry Henry finds himself in a challenging situation akin to his team’s lackluster start to the season, having failed to secure a single victory in six games. Once the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer (MLS) as the star striker for the New York Red Bulls, the Frenchman has now slipped to sixth place in terms of earnings.
Despite still commanding a considerable sum of €3,140,352, Henry’s paycheck pales in comparison to his previous status. Last season, he raked in 4.35 million dollars (equivalent to 3.3 million euros), outshining figures such as Clint Dempsey, who earns 4.8 million euros annually, and Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy, who pockets 3.3 million euros.
Meanwhile, within the Galaxy ranks, Robbie Keane, hailing from Ireland, claims the fourth spot on the earnings ladder with €3.2 million. Following closely is Jermaine Defoe, the Englishman who made his way to Toronto from Tottenham during the winter transfer window, boasting a salary of €4.4 million. Rounding off the top five is another American, Michael Bradley.
