Union Tangier Football Club has issued an official statement in response to the comments made by Raja Casablanca’s Vice President, Adil Halal, during a radio interview.
The club expressed astonishment at what they deemed as unwarranted interference in their affairs, based on entirely misguided conclusions that were highly detrimental to the club’s fan base.
In their official communique, Union Tangier stated, “The management of Union Tangier Football Club has closely followed with great concern the statements made by the Vice President of Raja Casablanca, Adil Halal, during his recent radio appearance.
These remarks constitute an unethical intervention in our club’s affairs, driven by entirely inaccurate conclusions that reflect negatively on our fan base.”
Furthermore, the club emphasized the significant role that ticket sales revenue plays in their annual income, particularly from home matches at their stadium.
They underscored the adverse financial impact suffered due to the closure of their stadium for renovations in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, a process that began during the previous season in anticipation of hosting the FIFA Club World Cup in 2023.
Union Tangier highlighted the unwavering support of their fan base since the club’s inception, noting record attendance rates since their promotion to the top division and moving to the Ibn Battouta Grand Stadium.
They condemned any attempt to downplay the absence of their supporters and cited it as a contributing factor to the club’s financial crisis this season due to the stadium closure.
In conclusion, the club reaffirmed the historically excellent relations between Union Tangier and Raja Casablanca, as well as between the respective fan bases, built on mutual respect and appreciation.
They criticized the aforementioned official for speaking exclusively on matters concerning the Tangier club’s management without possessing accurate information.
