Union Saint-Gilloise and Real Sociedad were goalless at half-time in their Europa League match at Den Dreef in Heverlee on Thursday.
The Belgian side had the brighter opening 45 minutes and created eight attempts, although only one was on target. Real Sociedad managed two shots as both teams struggled to find a breakthrough.
Despite Union Saint-Gilloise’s greater attacking threat, the home side could not turn its chances into a goal. Herve Koffi and his team-mates also kept the Spanish side at bay, ensuring the score remained 0-0 at the interval.
Real Sociedad had a slight advantage in possession, controlling 53% of the ball. However, that dominance did not produce a single effort on target.
The match remains finely poised ahead of the second half, with both sides needing to be more clinical in front of goal if they are to take control of the contest.
