Mohamed Meselhi, the president of Al-Ittihad Alexandria Club, emphasized that his team has not received any domestic offers for Christopher Mabululu and that selling him before securing a replacement would be challenging.
Meselhi stated on Al-Hayah TV, “I had a meeting with Tarek El Ashry, and we discussed the transfer period, the needed reinforcements, and the players who might leave.”
He continued, “It’s possible that one or two players might leave the team, and we might sign a foreign player, but Tarek El Ashry has not finalized these matters yet.”
“In the winter transfers, there aren’t many players available. A player leaving in January won’t depart unless his club doesn’t need him,” Meselhi added.
He further stated, “So far, no Egyptian team has approached me for Mabululu, but he has received offers from abroad.”
Meselhi emphasized, “Last season, we received a significant foreign offer for Mabululu. If converted to Egyptian pounds, it would exceed EGP 100 million, and the offers exceeded $2 million. However, it’s challenging for Mabululu to leave without finding a replacement, and finding a replacement for a player like Mabululu is not easy.”
He concluded, “All Egyptian clubs are facing financial crises, including Ahly, but if I were not present at Al-Ittihad currently, it would face a catastrophe. Anyone close to the club knows that.”
Al-Ittihad secured a 3-1 victory against Farco in the tenth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Al-Ittihad Alexandria’s points rose to 15, securing the fourth position from 8 matches, just one point behind the league leader, Pyramids.
