Milan, though stunned, managed to level the score through Kaka. However, Arda Turan dashed Italian hopes with a goal before halftime.
In the second half, Raul Garcia dealt a decisive blow to AC Milan’s chances. Despite Diego Costa’s second goal, wandering through the Milan defense, adding a fourth for Atletico Madrid, Milan couldn’t recover.
With a final aggregate score of 5-1 over the two legs, Atletico Madrid secured their place in the Champions League quarter-finals for the 17th time.
