UCL: PSG dealt major blow with Achraf Hakimi ruled out of second leg clash against Bayern Munich
Paris Saint-Germain have been hit with a significant setback ahead of their decisive UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich, with Achraf Hakimi ruled out for several weeks.
Although the club has yet to release an official statement, reports indicate the Moroccan defender sustained the injury during the first leg, which PSG won 5-4.
Hamstring Tear Confirmed
Hakimi’s setback reportedly came after a heavy challenge involving Konrad Laimer. Despite the pain, he completed the match, raising initial hopes that the issue was minor.
However, according to Radio Monte Carlo, detailed medical examinations have now confirmed a hamstring tear, ruling out earlier suggestions of simple cramps or muscle fatigue.
The diagnosis means the right-back will be sidelined for a significant period.
Replacement Plans Underway
With Hakimi unavailable, PSG are expected to turn to Warren Zaïre-Emery to fill in at right-back for the crucial return leg at the Allianz Arena.
The absence leaves a major gap in PSG’s defensive setup at a critical stage of the competition.
Recurring Trouble Against Bayern
Encounters with Bayern Munich have proven particularly challenging for Hakimi. Earlier this season, he also suffered a serious ankle injury in a separate meeting between the two sides following a heavy tackle, adding to his recent struggles in this fixture.
Big Test for PSG
Hakimi’s absence represents a major blow to PSG’s ambitions as they prepare for a defining European night. With a place in the final at stake, the French side must now adapt quickly without one of their most influential players.
