UCL: Kylian Mbappe named MoTM after bagging brace in Real Madrid’s 2-1 win against Marseille
France talisman of Cameroonian descent, Kylian Mbappe has been named Man of the Match following his standout performance for Real Madrid in their 2-1 comeback victory against Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Champions League.
The in-form attacker changed the game for Los Blancos after Timothy Weah had given Marseille a surprise lead in the 22nd minute with a well-taken strike inside the box. Mbappe quickly responded seven minutes later, slotting past Geronimo Rulli to level the game at 1-1.
Real Madrid faced further adversity in the 72nd minute when Dani Carvajal was shown a straight red card following a VAR review. Despite being reduced to 10 men, Los Blancos pushed forward and were rewarded in the 81st minute.
Mbappe calmly converted from the penalty spot, sealing his second goal of the night and Madrid’s hard-fought win.
For his outstanding showing, the forward has been named Man of the Match.
