Egypt U-20 assistant coach Alaa Abdo says his side will be fully prepared for their upcoming semifinal clash against Morocco in the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The host nation is set to face the Atlas Lions on Thursday at the 30 June Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 18:00 GMT.
Speaking after Egypt’s dramatic 5-4 victory over Ghana on penalties, Abdo described the quarterfinal as an “early final” due to the strength of the Ghanaian side, which featured several players active in international leagues.
He praised the Young Pharaohs for their impressive performance, noting that they played at a very high level to secure a hard-fought win.
Despite the triumph, Abdo acknowledged that the team faced physical challenges, particularly due to the short preparation period before the tournament began.
However, he commended the players for overcoming those hurdles and achieving their objective of reaching the semifinals and qualifying for the U-20 World Cup.
Looking ahead, Abdo assured Egyptian fans that the team is preparing thoroughly for the showdown with Morocco, promising that they are determined to reach the final and lift the championship trophy.
