Moroccan youngster, Ilyes Belmokhtar, has dedicated their victory to the North African country.
The 17-year-old scored two goals in their 5-0 win against Uganda in the ongoing U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Following his impressive performance, the AS Monaco player was awarded the Man of the Match award for the opening match.
“Yes, I am happy to win this award and score two goals in my first Africa Cup of Nations, but my greatest happiness is with my country’s victory,” Belmokhtar told Al-Riyadiyah TV.
“God willing, we are aiming to keep the cup in Morocco. We need the fans’ support, and there was no gift for Moroccans on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr other than this victory,” he added.
After being held to a 0-0 against Zambia, Morocco will wrap up their group games against Tanzania on Sunday.
