Rulani Mokwena has confirmed that former Mamelodi Sundowns coaches Wendell Robinson and Sibusiso Mahlangu will join him at MC Alger.
The former Wydad Athletic Club has been confirmed as the new head coach of the Algerian side ahead of the new football season.
Robinson had left Sundowns when Manqoba Mngqithi was sacked last season and had since worked at AmaZulu.
However, the goalkeeper coach is now joining Mokwena at Mouloudia Club d’Alger, alongside conditioning coach Mahlangu, who also worked with him at Wydad Athletic Club.
In addition, Mokwena also confirmed that former AS Vita assistant, Enzo Donis (29), who is somewhat of a set-piece expert, has agreed to leave his current role as Togo assistant to join him.
“The club insists on a couple of people, which is excellent because that still breeds familiarity and there is still a little bit of the technical stuff that knows how to win and do well in the Champions League with this group,” he told Andile Ncube on Metro FM when asked about his technical team.
“They know the culture, so hopefully we can establish a good relationship with them very, very soon, and that’s why I’ve got coach Wendell [Robinson] because he also speaks a goalkeeping language and if we retain a goalkeeping coach, maybe the relationship there can be established a little bit quicker.
“Then, of course, I have an assistant coach [Donis] that’s worked with AS Vita, who is from Belgium, and he’s coming on. He’s agreed to leave his job with the Togo national team, and so he’s excited by the project.
“He also allows me to have someone of a hybrid assistant because he’s got a bit of work and expertise in set pieces.
“So, it’s a well-thought-out space, and then we also got Sbu [Mahlangu] from the conditioning side.”
Meanwhile, a Belgian coach is also expected to be confirmed as the assistant coach.
