Tusker FC cruise past Kibera Black Stars in dominant friendly victory
Tusker FC secured a convincing 3-0 win over Kibera Black Stars in a friendly match at the Ruaraka Complex on Wednesday, with Boban Zirintusa netting twice in the first half. The match was organized during the three-week international break to maintain the team’s match fitness ahead of their upcoming FKF Premier League fixtures.
The friendly served as an opportunity for players who did not feature in the season-opening game against Sofapaka to get valuable playing time.
Tusker’s head coach employed a strong lineup, and his side quickly took control of the game against the National Super League opponents.
Zirintusa opened the scoring in the 21st minute after receiving an excellent through ball from Fabian Adikiny.
The Ugandan midfielder calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner from just outside the box, giving Tusker an early advantage.
The goal set the tone for what would be a dominant performance by the Brewers.
Just five minutes later, the lead was doubled.
Mwangi, the shortest player on the pitch, out-jumped the defense to meet a well-placed corner from Dennis Wanjala.
His powerful header found the back of the net, putting Tusker in firm control of the match.
Zirintusa was not done yet. Five minutes before the break, he completed his brace with a well-timed diving header.
The chance came from a superb cross delivered by Mike Oduor, who used the outside of his foot to whip in a precise ball from the left flank.
Zirintusa’s clinical finishing left Kibera Black Stars struggling to keep pace with their more experienced opponents.
Tusker could have extended their lead even further just before halftime when Oduor unleashed a curling effort from the edge of the box.
However, his shot rattled the crossbar and denied Tusker a fourth goal.
The second half saw more opportunities for Tusker, but they were unable to convert their dominance into additional goals.
Despite the lack of further scoring, the Brewers were able to hold onto their commanding lead and close out the match comfortably.
The friendly also provided valuable experience for two of Tusker’s Youth Team players, with defender George Odhiambo and midfielder Brian Kamau both making appearances.
The result will undoubtedly boost Tusker’s confidence as they prepare for their next league match.
The team’s ability to control the game and create numerous chances will be encouraging for the coaching staff as they aim to build on their strong start to the season.
