Saîf-Eddine Khaoui is on the verge of completing a move to Red Star FC, with the Tunisian international expected to sign for the newly promoted Ligue 2 club ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Negotiations between Khaoui and Red Star have reportedly entered an advanced stage, with both parties aiming to finalise a deal in the coming days.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder, currently under contract with Australian side Macarthur FC until 30 June, would return to French football after a series of stints abroad.
Khaoui’s potential arrival is being seen as a strategic addition for Red Star, who are targeting experienced reinforcements to ensure a competitive campaign in their return to Ligue 2.
The club, steeped in history and tradition, is seeking stability and creativity in the final third—qualities that the former Olympique de Marseille and Troyes player has demonstrated consistently throughout his career.
A return to familiar territory would mark the next chapter in a professional journey that has spanned several leagues. Khaoui began his career in France, rising through the ranks before signing with Marseille in 2016.
He went on to represent a number of clubs including Troyes, Caen (on loan), and Clermont Foot, gaining valuable experience in both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
His most notable spell in recent years came during the 2022/23 season with Clermont, where he delivered a series of standout performances, showcasing his technical skill, vision, and attacking instinct.
Those displays cemented his reputation as a reliable and creative force in midfield.
Following that period, Khaoui embarked on a short-lived venture in the United Arab Emirates with Khor Fakkan, before moving to Australia’s A-League in early 2025. Joining Macarthur FC on a free transfer, he has seen out the final months of his contract and is now poised for a return to European football.
Khaoui’s current market value is estimated at €1.2 million, a figure that reflects both his international experience and his ability to influence games at a high level.
His return to France would also mark a significant opportunity for Red Star, who are building a squad capable of not only surviving but thriving in Ligue 2.
At international level, Khaoui has been a regular feature for Tunisia, earning numerous caps and participating in major competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations.
His composure on the ball and tactical understanding make him an ideal figure to guide a young squad, offering both leadership and technical quality.
While the deal has not yet been officially confirmed, sources close to the negotiations suggest that only minor details remain before an agreement can be reached.
An official announcement is expected soon, provided that the final terms are agreed upon.
For Red Star, securing a player of Khaoui’s calibre would be a significant statement of intent, signalling the club’s ambitions as they return to France’s second tier.
For Khaoui, it would offer a platform to reignite his career in a league where he has already proven his worth.
