Espérance de Tunis are pushing for the acquisition of Syrian attacker Omar Al-Somah for the FIAF Club World Cup, which kick start this weekend.
The 36-year-old Syrian forward enjoyed an amazing season with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Orobah, racking up 11 goals and serving 3 assists in 17 appearances in the top-flight.
However, the Tunisian giants has set sights on securing the services of the attacker for the Club World Cup before the closure of it transfer window.
According to reports, negotiations between both parties are far advanced, with the player expected to join Esperance before the commencement of the tournament on June 15 in the USA.
Espérance find themselves in Group D of the expanded 32-team tournament alongside European giants Chelsea, South American champions Flamengo, and MLS powerhouse Los Angeles FC. Strengthening the attacking line has been a priority, and Al-Somah’s arrival is seen as a major boost.
The Syrian international is still among the most prolific goal scorers in Asian football history at the age of 36.
Al-Somah scored 155 goals and provided 25 assists in just 197 games during his storied time in Saudi Arabia. This incredible total highlights his deadly touch in front of goal.
