Al Ahly left-back, Ali Maâloul, has resumed training as he nears a return from a long term injury.
The Tunisian defender has been working intensively to regain fitness after missing several matches, including the recent 1-1 draw against Zamalek at Cairo Stadium in the 15th round of the Egyptian Premier League.
A source within the club confirmed that Maâloul is determined to prove himself after being officially registered in the domestic squad. He has been pushing himself in training to accelerate his comeback and reclaim a spot in Swiss coach Marcel Koller’s plans.
However, a medical examination confirmed that he had suffered a significant hamstring strain, which is expected to keep him sidelined for at least two weeks.
Following the Al Ahly match, Koller addressed the media, acknowledging that Maâloul’s injury was the reason for his absence from recent games.
The coach remains cautious about rushing the defender back, prioritizing a full recovery before reintegrating him into the squad.
Al Ahly’s injury concerns extend beyond Maâloul, as several key players are also sidelined. Mohamed Magdy Afsha is dealing with a calf strain and is expected to miss at least 10 days.
Additionally, Taher Mohamed Taher and Omar Kamal Abdelwahed are recovering from hamstring issues and require another week before resuming full training.
Meanwhile, Moroccan defender Yahia Attiyat Allah and center-back Yasser Ibrahim are set to make gradual returns to training at the start of next month.
Their comeback will provide a much-needed boost to the squad as Al Ahly navigates a crucial phase of the season.
