Tunisian football club Al-Najm Al-Sahili has officially issued a statement of protest against one of the banners displayed by Esperance’s fans during their match last Saturday, as part of the fifth round of the group stage of the African Champions League.
Al-Najm Al-Sahili published a statement on Facebook confirming the submission of an official complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), “objecting to the actions taken by Esperance’s fans,” and calling for the enforcement of regulations related to such matters, specifically citing Article 132.
The statement also demanded that Esperance Sporting Club’s management issue a formal apology to Al-Najm Al-Sahili and its fans, in addition to taking necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such transgressions.
Furthermore, Al-Najm’s management urged the Tunisian sports public opinion and media outlets to work towards fostering a more respectful atmosphere in the upcoming period.
