Tunisia secured a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso in an international friendly on Monday evening at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Radès, capitalising on a dominant performance and defensive lapses from their West African opponents.
Despite leaving Burnley forward Hannibal Mejbri on the bench, the Carthage Eagles took control early, dictating the tempo and asserting their presence in midfield.
Their early pressure paid off in the form of multiple chances, although the breakthrough remained elusive for much of the match.
In the 28th minute, Tunisia appeared to have taken the lead when Amin Cherni tapped the ball into an open net, but the effort was ruled offside.

Moments earlier, Burkina Faso had created a rare opportunity, with Cyriaque Irié’s curling free-kick narrowly missing its target after being met by a glancing header that drifted wide of the post.
Goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen was called into action early, denying Mohamed Konaté with a sharp intervention in the 11th minute, one of the few times Tunisia’s backline was breached in the first half.
Firas Ben Larbi nearly broke the deadlock with a well-struck free-kick just past the half-hour mark, but Burkinabe goalkeeper Hervé Koffi parried it to safety.
The pressure continued into the second half, with Firas Chaouat troubling the defence with a low cross that Koffi managed to intercept just in time.
Burkina Faso responded after the break with renewed intensity, pushing Tunisia onto the back foot.
Mohamed Konaté led the charge for the Stallions, testing the Tunisian defence twice in quick succession, only to be thwarted on both occasions.
Tunisia, however, struck against the run of play in the 60th minute.
Sayfallah Ltaief, operating on the left flank, crafted a dangerous move and delivered a low pass into the box.
In a moment of misfortune for Burkina Faso, defender Edmond Tapsoba deflected the ball into his own net, handing Tunisia a 1-0 lead.

The West Africans fought to recover, with Bertrand Traoré missing a golden opportunity in the 88th minute after breaking through on goal, only to be denied by Dahmen in a one-on-one situation.
Just two minutes later, Tunisia sealed the match.
A misjudged charge from Koffi left the goal unguarded, allowing Hazem Mastouri to calmly slot home Tunisia’s second in the 90th minute, extinguishing any hopes of a Burkinabe comeback.
With this victory, Sami Trabelsi’s side gain a boost of confidence ahead of their next challenge against Morocco on Friday.
Burkina Faso, meanwhile, will seek redemption when they face Zimbabwe on the same day.
