Despite his impressive 17 goals in the Belgian championship, Harbaoui now finds himself behind Yaya Touré from Manchester City and Michy Batshuayi from Standard Liège, each with 18 goals.
Nevertheless, Harbaoui’s performance in the Jupiler Pro League this season has been noteworthy, positioning him as a potential asset for the Eagles of Carthage under the management of Georges Leekens. Harbaoui has expressed his willingness to represent Tunisia if called upon by the national team coach.
“I have never declined a national team selection. My only misstep was when I spoke honestly about the locker room atmosphere during the African Cup of Nations,” Harbaoui stated in Het Laatste Nieuws. “I admitted that it was a mistake, but the Tunisian Federation demanded an apology. If the Federation does not obstruct Leekens, I see myself having a future with the national team. If Leekens calls me up, I will answer.”
