TS Galaxy defender Lentswe Motaung returns to training after Johannesburg hijacking

TS Galaxy defender Lentswe Motaung has returned to training after being hijacked at gunpoint in Johannesburg last weekend.

The 21-year-old was driving his new VW Polo in Thokoza last Saturday when the incident took place. He was not injured, but suffered trauma during the ordeal, while the vehicle remains missing.

Motaung has been supported by TS Galaxy and is said to be in positive spirits as he begins to resume his football activities.

An official at the Mpumalanga-based club said: “The club was informed of the incident. The player is receiving all the necessary support from the club. The good thing is that he was not injured. Life is more precious than the car and we are happy to see him back at training.”

Motaung has made eight appearances for TS Galaxy this season but was not involved in Tuesday’s Betway Premiership meeting with Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

The Rockets lost that match 3-0, with Motaung’s absence coming as he dealt with the effects of the incident away from the pitch.

TS Galaxy have since been drawn to face Kaizer Chiefs in the last 16 of the Carling Knockout. They are not involved in league action this weekend, giving Motaung further time to recover before returning to competitive football.

The defender’s return to training offers the club an encouraging development after a difficult period for the player. His immediate focus will be on rebuilding his confidence and regaining full readiness for the remainder of the campaign.
