Troost-Ekong rallies Super Eagles to finish 2026 World Cup qualifies strongly after Lesotho win
Captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, William Troost-Ekong, has charged his teammates to aim for a strong finish to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers following their 2-1 victory against Lesotho on Friday evening.
The experienced defender, who was on the scoresheet in the hard-fought win in Polokwane, took to social media after the game to rally both teammates and fans, emphasising that the team’s qualification hopes remain alive.
In a short but determined post on X (formerly Twitter), Ekong declared: “It ain’t over till it’s over.”

His words capture the Super Eagles’ fighting spirit as they look to keep their qualification dreams alive despite the difficult task ahead.
Nigeria currently sits third in Group C with 14 points, trailing Benin Republic and South Africa.
To secure a place at the 2026 World Cup, the Super Eagles must defeat Benin Republic by at least two goals in their final group match and hope South Africa fails to win their fixture against Rwanda.
With Group C set to be concluded on Tuesday, all eyes will be on the final round of games and how things will turn out.
