Sadat Ouro-Akoriko to Join Amazulu after Leaving Free State Stars
Togolese defender Sadat Ouro-Akoriko is set to leave Free State Stars after his contract expires in June, and he has reportedly made his decision on his next destination. According to reliable South African website Kickoff, Ouro-Akoriko will join Amazulu, currently ranked 6th in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL), after signing a three-year pre-contract agreement.
The 29-year-old central defender, who has been with Free State Stars for three years, was also courted by PSL giants Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars. However, it was Amazulu’s personal and direct approach that won him over. In an interview, Ouro-Akoriko explained why he chose the Durban-based club: “I signed with Amazulu because I liked the way they approached me. They showed a real desire to have me in their team, and for me, that means a lot.”
The former Etoile Filante du Togo player made it clear that despite offers from Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars, neither club displayed the same level of genuine interest. “Orlando and Platinum contacted me, but I didn’t feel they were serious. No manager approached me directly. There were discussions with many agents, but Amazulu approached me directly. I will be an Amazulu player next season,” he confirmed.
Ouro-Akoriko, who has scored two goals this season, will be joining Amazulu in July, marking the next chapter in his South African football journey.
