Paul Pogba Valued Higher Than Gareth Bale in Latest Football Observatory Report
The Football Observatory has released its annual valuation report on Europe’s top football stars, revealing that Paul Pogba is now worth significantly more than Gareth Bale, who was signed by Real Madrid last season for nearly €100 million.
At just 21 years old, Juventus and France midfielder Pogba is ranked among the eleven most expensive players in Europe. Notably, he is the youngest player on this elite list and the only one who does not play as a striker or attacking midfielder. His estimated market value stands at €66 million, representing a substantial 23% of Juventus’ total squad value.
This high valuation positions Pogba as one of the standout names heading into the summer transfer window, which opens on June 11 and closes on September 2. Raffaele Poli, head of the Football Observatory, commented on Pogba’s contract situation: “If Pogba does not renew his contract, which expires in June 2016, and continues performing at the same level, his value in a year will drop to around fifty million euros.”
Poli added that Juventus might consider selling Pogba if a club offers over €60 million, in order to generate funds to rejuvenate their aging squad.
The report also critiques Gareth Bale’s record-breaking transfer to Real Madrid, suggesting the Welshman was “clearly overpaid” in order to convince Tottenham to release him. Despite Bale’s transfer fee nearing €100 million, Pogba’s current market value exceeds that figure.
Widely sought after by Europe’s top clubs, Pogba’s future at Juventus remains uncertain. His agent, Mino Raiola, has not ruled out a potential move away from Turin, adding further intrigue to what promises to be one of the most exciting transfer sagas of the summer.
