Borussia Dortmund step up interest in Senegal defender Ibrahima Ba
Ibrahima Ba has emerged as a transfer target for Borussia Dortmund as the German club continue to track the development of the 20-year-old Senegalese defender ahead of a possible summer move.
The FC Famalicão centre-back is attracting growing attention across Europe after a steady rise in Portugal, with Dortmund understood to be among the clubs most closely following his progress.
Ba, who was trained in Senegal and previously featured for Ajel de Rufisque and Valenciennes, joined Famalicão in the summer of 2025.
Since arriving, he has gradually established himself as a reliable presence in the squad, earning regular playing time through consistent performances.
This season, the young defender has made more than 20 appearances for the Portuguese side, registering one goal and one assist in the process.
His form has reportedly caught the attention of several scouts, with his development being closely monitored across multiple leagues.
Although Ba recently extended his contract with Famalicão until 2030, his long-term future at the club is already being questioned due to rising interest from bigger European sides.
Dortmund’s interest is currently viewed as the most concrete, with reports suggesting internal discussions have already taken place regarding a potential transfer.
However, any deal is expected to be complicated by Famalicão’s valuation of the player. The Portuguese club are believed to be demanding around €25 million, with the possibility of additional bonuses included in any agreement to release the defender.
As a result, negotiations are not expected to be straightforward, and the situation remains open heading into the next transfer window.
Despite his recent contract renewal, Ba’s rapid development has placed him firmly on the radar of several top clubs, with Dortmund leading the pursuit at this stage.
With the summer window approaching, his future is likely to become one of the key talking points as interest in the Senegalese defender continues to grow across Europe.
