Atalanta sporting director Tony D’Amico has expressed disappointment over the ongoing transfer uncertainty surrounding Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman and several other players at the club.
Speaking to DAZN ahead of Atalanta’s clash with Pisa, D’Amico reflected on a turbulent summer for the Bergamo-based side, who recently parted ways with long-serving coach Gian Piero Gasperini and appointed Ivan Juric as his replacement.
“We’ve had a transfer window worthy of Atalanta. Lookman isn’t training with the team, and we’re experiencing more and more of these situations. It’s disappointing for everyone; this is the situation right now, and we’ll evaluate it once the transfer window is over. Today, there’s even more disappointment,” he said.
Atalanta have already seen key departures this summer, with Mateo Retegui moving to the Saudi Pro League and Matteo Ruggeri joining Atletico Madrid.
Lookman, who had been linked with Inter Milan before they shifted focus to Lens midfielder Diouf, is the latest player caught up in transfer uncertainty as the window draws to a close.
Although the player has publicly indicated that he wants to leave Atalanta, a transfer is increasingly looking unlikely.
