Trabzonspor have launched an ambitious bid to sign Malian midfielder Mamadou Sangaré, submitting an offer worth €10 million to Rapid Vienna in a move that signals their determination to land one of their top summer transfer targets.
Nicknamed “The Left-Handed,” Sangaré has attracted significant attention from across Europe following a standout season in Austria. His performances for Rapid Vienna have made him a hot commodity, with clubs including Galatasaray, Besiktas, Racing Club de Strasbourg, and Feyenoord all reportedly interested in acquiring the 22-year-old’s services. However, it is Trabzonspor who have made the most decisive move so far.
According to Africasoccer, the Turkish side is pushing hard to beat the competition by initiating negotiations early. Their opening offer, valued at €10 million, marks a serious attempt to persuade Rapid Vienna to part ways with one of their key players.
Yet the Austrian club is not ready to sell easily. Sangaré remains under contract until June 30, 2028, and Rapid have set a minimum asking price of €15 million, pointing to the midfielder’s value and long-term potential.
Feyenoord Rotterdam had already tested the waters during the January transfer window with a bid of €8 million, which was swiftly rejected by the Viennese club. Despite that, interest in the Malian international has only intensified, and Trabzonspor now lead the race in terms of financial commitment.
Sangaré’s 2024–25 campaign has been impressive. He featured in 44 matches across all competitions, scoring three goals and registering three assists, showing not only his work rate but also his ability to contribute offensively.
His vision, left-footed precision, and midfield intelligence have turned him into a key figure for Rapid Vienna and a player to watch on the transfer market.
In a recent interview, Sangaré admitted he is open to a summer move, stating that he will consult with his representatives and Rapid Vienna before making a decision.
While he has not publicly expressed a preference for any of the interested clubs, he made it clear that any decision would be based on what is best for his professional development.
The ball now lies in Rapid Vienna’s court. Although they remain firm in their valuation, the pressure from multiple interested clubs could test their resolve as the summer window progresses.
If Sangaré does make a move, he would join the ranks of the most expensive Malian midfielders of all time, further highlighting his rise in European football.
For Trabzonspor, securing Sangaré would be a major statement of intent. The club is evidently eager to bolster its squad with young, dynamic talent and sees the Malian as a crucial part of its long-term strategy.
With competition heating up, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining where the talented midfielder plays next season.
