Trabzonspor have launched a €5 million bid to secure the services of Rennes centre-back Christopher Wooh, according to a report from L’Équipe.

The Turkish club are keen to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season and have identified the 23-year-old Cameroonian international as a key target.

Wooh, who joined Stade Rennais in 2022, has made 20 appearances in Ligue 1 this season and remains under contract with the French side until 2026.

His consistent performances and physical presence at the heart of Rennes’ defence have not gone unnoticed, drawing interest from outside France.

The offer tabled by Trabzonspor reflects their ambition to rebuild and reinforce their backline as they aim to contend domestically and in Europe.

The club, which has a history of targeting young, athletic defenders from European leagues, views Wooh as a long-term investment.

As of now, Rennes have not formally responded to the Turkish side’s proposal.

While the Ligue 1 outfit values Wooh’s potential and recent progress, they may be tempted to part ways if the deal is financially appealing and aligns with their recruitment strategy for the upcoming window.

Born in France but representing Cameroon at international level, Wooh has steadily grown in stature over the past two seasons.

After breaking through with RC Lens, he earned a move to Rennes, where his versatility and defensive maturity have continued to develop.

His performances have also caught the attention of the national team selectors, further boosting his reputation.

For Trabzonspor, the acquisition of Wooh would be a significant addition to their squad.

The Turkish Süper Lig side is preparing for a competitive campaign and sees strengthening its defence as a top priority.

Wooh’s ability to read the game, his aerial strength, and his composure under pressure make him an ideal fit for their style of play.

With the summer transfer window heating up, Rennes now face a decision that could shape both their defensive structure and transfer dealings for the rest of the summer.

Whether they choose to cash in on the interest from Trabzonspor or hold firm and retain one of their most promising young defenders remains to be seen.
