Trabzonspor face Amed Spor in first match since Europa League exit, with Mohamed Salah aiming to score again

Trabzonspor return to domestic action on Monday when they host Amed Spor, their first match since a heavy defeat by Ferencvaros ended their UEFA Europa League campaign.

The game will take place at Diyarbakır Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 21:30 Cairo time. It will be broadcast on beIN Sports 2, with Mohamed Barakat providing commentary.

Trabzonspor’s return to the Turkish league comes after a damaging European result on Thursday. They were beaten 4-0 by Ferencvaros, a loss which brought their Europa League involvement to an end and resulted in their move into the UEFA Conference League.

The defeat also prompted head coach Fatih Tekke to announce his resignation. However, the Trabzonspor board rejected his decision and he remains in charge of the team for the meeting with Amed Spor.

The match will also provide Mohamed Salah with an opportunity to continue his promising start in Trabzonspor colours. The Egypt international opened his scoring account for the club in their previous league fixture against Istanbul Basaksehir.

Salah scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir, and will now look to find the net again against Amed Spor as Trabzonspor attempt to respond to their European disappointment.

The result against Ferencvaros was particularly significant because it ended Trabzonspor’s pursuit of the Europa League, while their European campaign will continue in the Conference League. Their immediate focus, however, is on the Turkish league encounter with Amed Spor.

Monday’s fixture therefore marks a return to domestic competition for Trabzonspor following the events of the past week. The club must also move forward with Tekke still in the dugout after his resignation was turned down by the administration.

Salah’s recent contribution gives him a clear personal target for the match. Having scored twice in the 2-1 win against Istanbul Basaksehir, he will attempt to add to his Trabzonspor tally against Amed Spor.

The fixture is set for 21:30 in Cairo, and supporters will be able to watch the match live on beIN Sports 2, where Mohamed Barakat will be on commentary duty.
