Trabzonspor, featuring Egyptian star Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, extended their triumphs in the Turkish league with a 2-1 victory over Samsunspor, despite Trezeguet’s absence.
On Thursday evening, Trabzonspor hosted Samsunspor at the Babar Park stadium in a match corresponding to the sixteenth round of the Turkish league.
Trezeguet was notably absent from his team’s match today as he joined the national team camp, preparing for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations 2023 in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
Philippe Benkovic opened the scoring for Trezeguet’s teammates in the 21st minute, followed by a goal from Boli Bolingoli in the 45+1 minute, concluding the first half with Trabzon leading 2-0.
In the second half, Samsunspor players attempted to narrow the gap, with Tyrell Antaliyali succeeding in scoring the first goal in the 90+5 minute from a penalty.
However, Trabzonspor secured three valuable points, propelling them towards the summit of the league standings.
Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet has participated in 12 matches with Trabzonspor in the Turkish league so far, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
With this victory, Trabzonspor elevated their total points to 36, securing the third position in the Turkish league table.
Meanwhile, Samsunspor remained at 18 points, occupying the seventeenth position.
